| Study online business via the Internet or in the classroom.
Schools offering courses in online business, e-commerce, and the Internet come in many shapes and sizes. To choose the right one, you will have to know the following:

- Do you want a degree program, and if so, what type?
Are you looking for a Bachelor's or Master's degree, continuing education credits, a certificate program, or simply some how-to information with no need for credit?
What course of study are you interested in?
There are so many courses out there, you should take some time to narrow down your interests and/or requirements. Some courses are very technical (Webmastering, programming) while others are focused more on marketing or management. You'll also find that some are academic (Macroeconomic impact of e-commerce on the money supply, for example), while others are more practical (Start your own e-business in 10 days).
Do you want to study online via the Internet, or in a classroom?
The terminology can sometimes be confusing. Do you want to study business, online? Or are you looking for classes about e-commerce in a traditional university?
If online, do you want to attend scheduled "live" presentations, or "available anytime" presentations?
Many online courses are conducted much like traditional classes, where the instructor presents over the Internet at scheduled times. When the class and instructor are all present at the same time the courses are often called "synchronous." This can be good if you enjoy the virtual camaraderie and like your questions answered immediately. Communication might occur via online chat or IP telephony. "Asynchronous" classes are accessible at any time. Course material and presentations are posted in a virtual classroom, assignments are either posted or e-mailed, and communication occurs on a bulletin board or via e-mail
How much can you afford?
You'll find a large range of prices, from the Ivy League level, to a more budget-minded level. It's up to you to determine the price and value to you are in sync.
How much of a time commitment are you willing to make?
You will find degree programs lasting several months or years as well as one-off courses lasting just a day or two. Make sure you understand the difference when comparing prices.
Once you have answered these basic questions, there are several portals that can help you narrow down your search, but don't rely solely on them.
